Meet Dr. Ofshteyn

Dr. Asya Ofshteyn is a colon and rectal surgeon providing care to the South Bay community. She is dedicated to achieving the highest standards of surgical excellence and compassionate care. Along with her partner, Dr. Aaron Parrish, she specializes in robotic surgery for colon and rectal cancer, Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis and diverticulitis. She also treats the full spectrum of anorectal disease.

Dr. Ofshteyn grew up in the Bay Area. She attended UC Berkeley for undergraduate education and UCSF School of Medicine for medical school. During medical school, she completed a Masters in Public Health at UC Berkeley concentrating in Health Policy and Advocacy.

She then completed her General Surgery training at the Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC. Mount Sinai is a preeminent Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis treatment center, and the hospital that performs the largest number of colon surgeries in New York City.

She completed her Colon and Rectal Surgery fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Mayo Clinic is consistently ranked as #1 in Gastrointestinal Surgery by the U.S. News & World Report and is among the highest volume robotic colorectal surgery hospitals in the world.

Dr. Ofshteyn is a first or co-author of more than 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has presented her work at regional and national surgical meetings. She is an active member of multiple surgical societies and serves on the Inflammatory Bowel Disease committee for the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS).
