Same-Day Procedures

Many procedures can be done at a surgery center allowing you to go home on the same day and back to work when you are ready.

Fistula Surgery

Surgical treatment for anal fistulas is often step-wise and requires multiple procedures. Dr. Ofshteyn will first evaluate the fistula in the office and discuss the best treatment plan. Most fistulas can be treated simply with a fistulotomy by cutting the fistula open to allow it to heal.

However, complex fistulas require an initial placement of a seton, which is a loose rubber band that keeps the fistula open to prevent infection. After the seton helps the fistula mature, further treatment can be attempted. Options include a LIFT procedure, an endorectal advancement flap or laser treatment (available soon in our practice). Dr. Ofshteyn will be with you every step of the way to help your body heal the fistula and prevent further complications.
