Banding is an option for patients with internal hemorrhoids. A small tight rubber band is placed around part or all of the hemorrhoid and origin of the hemorrhoid, where it gets its blood supply. The blood supply is cut off, and the hemorrhoid is eliminated. This procedure is performed in the office and the band remains in place. You may experience a dull ache or fullness in the anus for a day or two after the procedure. Otherwise, the banding should not cause any discomfort.
